《Shadow in the Mirror》

...His next work, Lord Sparkenbrook (1936), is a love story set in the Italian and English countryside, written in a delicate and elaborate style, which was particularly well received in France. He later participated in World War II, and contributed two volumes of essays on life and literature to the Times Literary Supplement (1944-46) during the war. His style is even more restrained in works such as The Judge's Story (1947), The River Line (published in 1949, dramatized in 1952), and Morning Breeze (1951).
