1143-1230 A military commander from the late Heian to Kamakura period.
Born on February 28, 2nd year of the Koji era. Son of Kai Genji and Itsumi (Minamoto) Kiyomitsu. Defeated the Taira clan at the Battle of Fujigawa in 1180, and in the first year of the Genryaku era, accompanied Minamoto Noriyori to the Western Sea to fight against the Taira clan. Recommended by Minamoto no Yoritomo, he became the governor of Shinano. In the fifth year of Bunji era, he also participated in the attack on Oshu. Died on April 19, 2nd year of the Kanki era. Age 88. Born in Kai (Yamanashi prefecture). Nicknamed Jiro.

康治(こうじ)2年2月28日生まれ。甲斐(かい)源氏,逸見(源)清光の子。治承(じしょう)4年(1180)富士川の戦いに平氏をやぶり,元暦(げんりゃく)元年源範頼(のりより)にしたがって西海におもむき平氏と対戦。源頼朝の推挙によって信濃守となる。文治(ぶんじ)5年奥州攻めにもくわわった。寛喜(かんぎ)2年4月19日死去。88歳。甲斐(山梨県)出身。通称は二郎。
