"Flower tradition book since Kao" - Kao Irai no Kadensho

...The Tanigawa school is mentioned in the "Sendensho," which describes the state of Tachibana in the Muromachi period, and is probably the tradition of a certain Tanigawa Nyudo who arranged flowers in the residences of nobles. Thanks to the efforts of these people, the early days of Ikebana gave birth to a style of Ikebana with a formal form known as Tachibana. During this period of experimentation leading to the establishment of Tachibana, there also existed Ikebana that depicted landscapes more freely than Tachibana, and in the "Kadensho Since Kao," which is thought to be the oldest flower book available today, there are Ikebana with "flowers on the bank" and arranged on the edge of the room outside, and the connection with the front garden is noteworthy. It was with the "Ikenobo Sen'o Kuden" that Japanese Ikebana first appeared in history with a clear philosophy. ...
