Bridal veil

Japanese: ブライダル・ベール(英語表記)bridal veil
Bridal veil
An evergreen perennial plant of the Commelinaceae family, only recently introduced to Japan, it has spread rapidly with the popularity of hanging pots. Native to Mexico, the West Indies, and South America. The stems are thin and have long internodes, but they branch well and grow densely. The leaves are broad lanceolate to oblong triangular-heart shaped, dark green on the upper side and dark purple-pink on the underside. The plant's appearance and color are ordinary, but it grows quickly and is strong. Thin flower stalks grow from the tip of the stem, branching one after another, and produce a large number of small white flowers. When they grow in clusters, they look like a white veil hanging down.
