Tongbai Mountains

Japanese: 桐柏山脈 - とうはくさんみゃく

Located on the border between Henan and Hubei provinces in China, this mountain range is part of the western part of the Huaiyang Mountains and runs from northwest to southeast. Its main peak, Taibaiding (1,140m), is west of Tongbai County and is the source of the Huai River. It forms the watershed between the Huai River system and the Yangtze River system, but to the west, the Tang River and Bai River, tributaries of the Han River in the Yangtze River system, have drainage basins within Henan Province. The range includes the peaks of Yunu, Wolong, Zixiao, Cuiwei, and Lianhua. After liberation, the Daboling Dam and Nanwan Dam were built as part of the Huai River Flood Control Plan. [Hayashi Kazuo]

中国の河南省と湖北省の省境にあり，淮陽（わいよう）山脈の西部分に属し，北西から南東に走る山脈。主峰の太白頂(1140m)は桐柏県の西にあり，淮河の発源地である。淮河水系と長江(揚子江)水系の分水嶺をなすが，西方では長江水系の漢水の支流である唐河，白河などが河南省内に流域を有する。玉女，臥竜，紫霄（ししよう），翠微，蓮花の諸峰が連なる。解放後，淮河治水計画により，大波嶺ダムや南湾ダムが建設された。【林和生】
