...The same Wang Pu also wrote the Five Dynasties Huiyao (Encyclopedia of the Five Dynasties), which has 30 volumes. In the Song Dynasty, as the centralized system was rapidly established and the system became extremely complex and diverse, the compilation of the Huiyao came to be done by the state itself, and especially from the 12th century onwards, a permanent compilation institution called the Huiyaosho was established alongside the Institute of Records and the Japanese Calendar Office. More than 10 Huiyao were compiled by imperial order during the Song Dynasty, starting with the Six Dynasties Guochao Huiyao (Encyclopedia of the Six Dynasties Guochao Huiyao), which had 21 categories, 855 sections and 300 volumes, compiled in 1077 (the 10th year of the Xining era), to the Guochao Huiyao (Encyclopedia of the Guochao Huiyao) compiled during the Jiading period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1208-24).
