Japanese: 鎮痙薬 - ちんけいやく

A drug that relieves pain by calming spasms of smooth muscles. It is used for bronchial asthma, gastrointestinal spasms, gallstone pain, etc. It is classified as either neurotropic or myotropic. The former includes parasympathetic nerve inhibitors such as atropine, while the latter includes papaverine and neupapaverine. Dicyclomine hydrochloride (Ventil) has both effects. Antispasmodics that act on skeletal muscles are also sometimes included in antispasmodics.

平滑筋の痙攣(けいれん)をしずめて痛みを和らげる薬剤。気管支喘息(ぜんそく)，胃腸痙攣，胆石痛などに適用される。向神経性と向筋性に分類される。前者にはアトロピンなどの副交感神経抑制剤があり，後者にはパパベリンやノイパパベリンなどが属する。また塩酸・ジサイクロミン（ベンチール）は両方の作用を有する。このほか骨格筋に作用する抗痙攣薬も鎮痙薬に含めることがある。
