External Perception

...And this is also the basis for ontological dualism, which distinguishes between "phenomenon" and "reality" or "thing-in-itself," or for the intellectualist interpretation that sees perception as a combination of pure sensation (such as "sensational givens") and some kind of intellectual action. Husserl's distinction between the evidentiality of "external perception" and that of "internal perception," calling the former "incomplete" and the latter "complete," was based on consideration of the one-sidedness of external perception. However, these arguments are not very persuasive.
