…After the invention of the “Unagi-don” (eel rice bowl), which consists of a grilled eel placed on rice and then covered with sauce, this simple and delicious style became a favorite of the common people, and the word “donmono” (bowl of rice) was born, as seen in the illustration in the first volume of “Edo Meisho Zue” (Illustrated Guide to Edo Famous Places), which can be seen in the illustration by Nakahashi.
