Abbreviation of organizer. Originally, it referred to activists who specialized in organizing and coordinating liaison between branch organizations and union members of different occupations, professions, and regions in industrial unions in Europe and the United States, where individual membership was the rule. Today, it refers more broadly to leaders and organizers in mass movements such as labor unions and class-based political parties. Organizers are generally dispatched directly from higher-level organizations to lower-level leadership organizations when there are problems such as the weakness of the lower-level leadership organizations, and they are responsible for activities such as leading the movement and strengthening the leadership organization, organizing the unorganized masses, and thoroughly disseminating the decisions of higher-level organizations. Organizers who work on a national scale are called national organizers, and those who work in a limited area are called local organizers.
