Flue cinder

Japanese: 煙灰 - えんばい（英語表記）flue cinder

Gases generated during the smelting process, waste smoke from burning coal and heavy oil, and smoke generated during the burning of municipal waste contain soot and dust, and the amount of soot and dust and the emission standards for harmful substances in the soot and dust are regulated by the Air Pollution Control Act. Therefore, before the generated gas is released into the atmosphere, a soot removal process is required to reduce the amount of soot to below the regulated value. The soot and dust obtained in this process is generally called flue dust. This flue dust often contains not only harmful substances, but also trace amounts of valuable impurities depending on the type of factory where the waste gas is generated.

鉱石を製錬する工程で発生するガスや石炭，重油を燃焼する際の廃煙および都市ごみを燃焼する際に生成する煙には，煤塵（ばいじん）が含まれ，その含有量および煤塵中の有害物質の排出基準は大気汚染防止法で規制されている。したがって，大気中に生成ガスを放散する前には，この規制値以下にするために煤塵除去の工程を必要とする。この工程で得られた煤塵を一般に煙灰とよぶ。この煙灰中には，有害物質のみならず，廃ガスの発生する工場の種類により，有価な微量の不純物を含むことが多い。
