OP Magnet - OP Magnet

...Microparticle magnets utilize the large coercive force resulting from their single magnetic domain structure and are made of cobalt ferrite. Examples include OP magnets (invented by Yogoro Kato and Takeshi Takei in 1933), iron and FeCo powder. Crystalline magnetic anisotropy magnets are rare earth/cobalt-based magnets that exhibit the highest performance as permanent magnets, with a B / H product of approximately 30 x 106 gauss-oersteds and a coercive force of approximately 20,000 oersteds. ...

From [Oxide Magnets]

...The former is an alloy, while the latter is a magnet made of the ferrimagnetic compound barium and iron oxide (barium ferrite) or strontium and iron oxide (strontium ferrite). Oxides were first developed as magnets in 1933 by the Japanese scientists Yogoro Kato and Takeshi Takei, who used cobalt ferrite, a compound oxide of cobalt and iron, and named it OP magnets. Today, barium ferrite has replaced OP magnets as the most common oxide magnet, and its advantage is that it does not use expensive materials such as cobalt or nickel.

Japanese:
