Ecole normale supérieure (English spelling)

Japanese: エコール･ノルマル･シュペリウール（英語表記）École normale supérieure

A French high school under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education. In addition to the Normal School on the Rue des Hurms in Paris, there are the Normal School for Women in Paris, the Normal School for Technical Education in Cachan, the Normal School for Fontenay-aux-Roses and the Normal School for Saint-Cloud. Students must pass the baccalauréat in their respective school districts, and then take two years of exam preparation called cagnes or hipocagnes (for liberal arts) or taupe or hiptope (for sciences). Students are selected by a selection test from applicants from all over the country, and are paid a monthly allowance by the Ministry of Education.

フランスの高等師範学校。文部省所管のグランドゼコールで，パリのウルム通りにある高等師範のほかに，パリの女子高等師範，カシャンの技術教育高等師範，フォントネー･オー･ローズの高等師範，サン･クルーの高等師範の各校がある。学生は，各学区のバカロレアに合格したうえで，さらにカーニュ，イポカーニュ(文科系)あるいはトープ，イポトープ(理科系)とよばれる2年間の試験準備を経て，全国から集まる志願者を対象とした選抜試験によって選ばれ，文部省から毎月手当が支給される。
