Flowers and Hanshichi - Ohana Hanshichi
A character in Joruri and Kabuki.
Hanshichi, a swordsmith from Horikawa, Kyoto, and Ohana, a prostitute from Izutsuya, fall in love. Hanshichi trades the famous sword "Nobukuni" that he has been entrusted with from his aunt for a cheap one to make money, and the two elope to Osaka. Feeling responsible, the aunt commits seppuku. Chikamatsu Monzaemon adapted the play as "Nagamachi Onna no Harakiri" (Nagamachi Woman's Harakiri), and it premiered in 1712.

京都堀川の刀屋職人半七と,井筒屋の遊女お花は恋仲となる。半七は叔母からあずかった名刀「信国」を安物とすりかえ金をつくり,ふたりは大坂に駆け落ちする。叔母は責任を感じて切腹する。近松門左衛門が「長町女腹切(ながまちおんなのはらきり)」として脚色,正徳(しょうとく)2年(1712)に初演された。
