Known as a major cement manufacturer affiliated with Fuyo. Established as Asano Cement in 1912. Changed its name to Nippon Cement in 1947. Its origins date back to 1883, when Asano Soichiro leased the government-run Fukagawa Works Branch, Japan's first cement factory, and started manufacturing cement (the factory was sold off the following year in 1884 to become the Asano Factory, and was absorbed into Asano Cement in 1913). Along with Nippon Kokan, it was a core company of the former Asano Zaibatsu. Its affiliated companies include secondary product companies such as Hume Pipe and Eternit Pipe. In October 1998, it merged with Chichibu Onoda and changed its name to Taiheiyo Cement. →Cement Industry→Related Article Onoda Cement Co., Ltd.
