Seoraksan Mountain

A famous mountain with an elevation of 1,708 meters (main peak Daecheongbong) that spans Sokcho City, Inje County, Goseong County, and Yangyang County in Gangwon Province, South Korea. The geology is made up of granite gneiss, crystalline schist, and granite, and the central mountain range is the boundary between Sokcho on the east side and Inje on the northwest side, called Outer Seorak. The Cheonbuldong Valley toward Daecheongbong is famous for its beautiful valleys, with Biseondae, Goomyeonam, and Kuryongpok, and Inner Seorak has many rapids and waterfalls in Suirendong on the northeast side, attracting many domestic and foreign tourists. It is a representative national park, and was designated a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1982.

韓国（大韓民国）、江原道束草市および麟蹄(りんてい)郡、高城郡、襄陽(じょうよう)郡にわたる標高1708メートル（主峰の大青峰）の名山。地質は花崗片麻(かこうへんま)岩、結晶片岩、花崗岩からなり、中央連峰を境に東の束草側を外雪岳、北西の麟蹄側を内雪岳という。大青峰に向かう千仏洞渓谷には飛仙台、鬼面岩、九龍瀑(ばく)があって渓谷美が優れ、内雪岳にも北東側の水簾(すいれん)洞に急流や滝が多く、内外の観光客が多い。代表的な国立公園であり、1982年にはユネスコの生物圏保存地域にも指定された。
