Oshira Asobase - Oshira Asobase

For the festival, shrine maidens such as Itako, Waka, and Shinmei-miko are employed, who hold the Oshira-sama in both hands and wave it up and down and left and right while reciting ritual texts. This is called Oshira Asobase. In addition to "Oshira-sama's Homeland," there are various other types of ritual texts, such as "Kinman Choja" and "Sendan Kurige," and in areas where Oshira-sama is considered to be a silkworm god, they sometimes recite "the homeland of the silkworm spirit (Sangageyama)."
