Mr. Nakamura

Japanese: 中村氏 - なかむらうじ

A medieval samurai family whose main territory was Nakamura-sho in Sagami Province. They are the Kanmu Heishi clan. They are said to have descended from Oshoryo-shi Kagehira, who was killed by Gon-daifu Tamesuke in 1079 (Shoryaku 3), but the first appearance of the Nakamura clan in historical documents was in Nakamura Shoji Sohei, who was seen among Minamoto no Yoshitomo's troops who invaded Oba Mikuriya in 1144 (Tenyo 1). When Minamoto no Yoritomo re-elected in October 80 (Jisho 4) and entered the Sagami provincial government office, Sohei was ordered to repair the mansion where Yoritomo was staying, and in 86 (Bun'ji 2), he and Miura Yoshizumi distributed one tou of polished rice per person to leading peasants in Sagami Province.

相模国中村荘を本領とする中世武家。桓武平氏。1079年(承暦3)権大夫為季に殺された押領使景平を祖とするともいわれるが，1144年(天養1)大庭（おおば）御厨を侵略した源義朝の手勢中にみえる中村荘司宗平が，中村氏の史料上の初見である。宗平は80年(治承4)10月再挙した源頼朝が相模国府に入るにあたって，頼朝の逗留する館の修理を命ぜられ，さらに86年(文治2)には相模国内有力百姓への人別1斗の白米給与を，三浦義澄とともに挙行している。
