〘Noun〙① During the Edo period, an entranceway was located between the front and back of Edo Castle and the residences of various feudal lords. The one in Edo Castle was two ken wide, with a black-lacquered cedar door and a large copper-plated door, and it is said that it opened at five o'clock (around 8 a.m.) and closed and locked at six o'clock (around 6 p.m.). It was heavily guarded by the Ojoguchiban, and men were forbidden to enter the area beyond that.
