The former town area in the southwest of Imizu City, in the northwest of Toyama Prefecture. It is located in the western part of the Imizu Plain. It was incorporated as a town in 1889. In 1954, Daimon Town was formed by merging with the villages of Asai, Mitoda, Kushida, and Futakuchi. In 2005, it merged with one city, two towns, and one village, Shinminato City, Kosugi Town, Shimomura, and Oshima Town, to form Imizu City. The central district of Daimon is located at the confluence of the Sho River and its tributary, the Wada River, and developed as a post town on the Hokuriku Road. It serves as a satellite city of Takaoka City. There is a cotton spinning factory, and roof tiles are a specialty of the town, made from the clay from the southern hills. The rural areas are rice-growing regions. There are salmon fish farms. Source: Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia About Encyclopaedia Britannica Concise Encyclopedia Information |
