The Shoko Chukin Bank, Ltd.
A Japanese financial institution whose main purpose is to facilitate financing for small and medium-sized enterprises. It is abbreviated as Shoko Chukin Bank. It was established as a cooperative financial institution under the Shoko Chukin Bank Act in 1936. In October 2008, it became a special company under the Shoko Chukin Bank Act. Its shareholders are the government, small and medium-sized enterprise associations and their members. Its main activities include lending to affiliated associations and their members, discounting bills, conducting domestic foreign exchange operations, and accepting deposits, and it issues commercial bonds as a source of funds. Its business operations and the appointment and dismissal of directors are supervised by the government.
