《Omonguchi Yoroigasane》

...Tamenaga Tarobei took over as the lead playwright at the Toyotake-za, and in the following year, 1807, Munesuke was given guidance and wrote three plays for Tarobei, including "Dojoji: Present Snake Scales" (the prototype for the current scene "Hidaka River"), and also accompanied Echizen Shojo to the Hizen-za in Edo. However, at the end of that year, he left the Toyotake-za and became a Kabuki playwright.

He became a leading playwright at the Iwai Hanshiro-za in Osaka from the end of 1742 (Kanpo 2) and at the Nakamura Juzo-za in Osaka from the end of 1743, collaborating with Yasuda Kaerubun and Namiki Eisuke, and presenting such masterpieces as "Oigawa Sankumi Sakazuki" and "Daimonguchi Yoroigasane" (both 1743). The latter was a huge hit with the first Sawamura Sojuro's Oil Scale Shokuro, and is also known as an early example of the effective use of price increases.

…豊竹座の立作者は為永太郎兵衛に代わり，宗輔は翌42年，補導の形で太郎兵衛の脇作者として《道成寺現在蛇鱗（うろこ）》(現行の景事《日高川》の原型)など3作を書き，また越前少掾に同行して江戸肥前座におもむいたが，この年限りで豊竹座を辞し，歌舞伎作者に転じた。

　1742年(寛保2)末から大坂岩井半四郎座，43年末から大坂中村十蔵座の立作者となり，安田蛙文，並木栄(永)輔らと合作し，《大井川三組盃》《大門口鎧襲（よろいがさね）》(ともに1743)などの秀作を世に問うた。後者は初世沢村宗十郎の油計り庄九郎が大好評を博し，セリ上げを効果に用いた初期の例としても知られている。…
