...It is made up of rhyolite, dacite, and pyroxene andesite, and has a caldera about 4 km in diameter in the center. The somma surrounding it include the highest peak, Mt. Otsukushi (828 m), as well as a series of mountains such as Byobuyama, Hokkokuyama, Shojiyama, Kozuyama, and Maruyama, and further out, parasitic volcanoes such as Mt. Kamabuse and Mt. Asahina rise. Inside the caldera is the nearly circular Lake Usoriyama (Lake Osorezan), 2 km in diameter, and from the northeastern end, the Masatsu River forms a crater rapids and flows out into the Tsugaru Strait. ...
