A princess of the Tang Dynasty who married the King of Tibet. Songtsen Gampo, who brought political unity to the Tibetan people, asked the Tang Dynasty to give the princess in marriage, but was initially rejected. A war ensued in 638, but peace was made, and in the autumn of 640, King Daozong of Jiangxia sent her to Heyuan. The princess was initially married to Songtsen's son, Guntsen Guntsen, and lived in Tsash in the Kham region. They had a son, Manlung Mantsen, but Guntsen died soon after, and after three years of mourning, she remarried her father-in-law, Songtsen, in 646. The princess contributed to the introduction of Chinese cultural artifacts into Tibet and the establishment of peace and friendship between the two countries.
