A folktale-style novel by L. Tolstoy. "Ivan-durak." Published in 1885. Ivan, the naive youngest peasant son, is no match for any temptations from the devil, and his greedy older brothers are ruined, with Ivan the final victor. It reflects Tolstoy's non-resistance spiritualism and anti-war ideology in his later years. A moralistic work that uses the representative characters from Russian folktales.
