A former town in Haga County in southern Tochigi Prefecture. Occupying the lowlands on the east bank of the Kinu River, it has many rice paddies and is a popular second crop, strawberry cultivation. The Moka Railway passes through the town. It was named after Ninomiya Sontoku, who devoted himself to agricultural policy. It is home to the remains of Sakuramachi Jinya (historic site) and Senshu-ji Temple. Incorporated into Moka City in March 2009. 55.45 km2 . 栃木県南部,芳賀(はが)郡の旧町。鬼怒(きぬ)川東岸の低地を占め,水田が多く,裏作のイチゴ栽培が盛ん。真岡(もおか)鉄道が通じる。名は農政に尽力した二宮尊徳にちなむ。桜町陣屋跡(史跡),専修寺がある。2009年3月真岡市へ編入。55.45km2。1万6640人(2005)。
