Industrial capital is a moving body of value that acquires surplus value on the basis of the production process. Therefore, in order for industrial capital to start the production process, the monetary capital advanced in advance must be used to purchase not only means of production such as machines and raw materials, but also the labor-power commodity. The capitalist production process is nothing other than the consumption of the use value of labor-power purchased by capital in this way, that is, wage laborers acting independently on the means of production to create new products. From the perspective of value formation and proliferation, the capital in the production process can be defined as two types of capital.

産業資本とは，生産過程を根拠として剰余価値を取得する価値の運動体である。そこで産業資本が生産過程を開始するためには，あらかじめ前貸しした貨幣資本を，機械や原料等の生産手段だけでなく，労働力商品の購入に向けなければならない。資本主義的生産過程とは，このように資本によって購入された労働力の使用価値が消費されること，すなわち賃金労働者が主体的に生産手段に働きかけ新生産物を生みだすことにほかならない。　この過程を価値形成･増殖の観点からみると，生産過程にある資本を2種類の資本に分けて規定することができる。
