Kamalaśīla (English spelling)

Kamalaśīla (English spelling)

A Buddhist scholar of the Indian Yogacara Madhya Pradesh school. His Chinese name is Rengekai. After Kamalashila's teacher Shantilakshita spread Buddhism in Tibet, Mahayana monk Mahayana came and spread the Chinese-based Tongozen. In 794, Kamalashila was invited from India to confront him and defeat him in a debate at Samue Monastery. After that, Indian Zenmon Buddhism was recognized as orthodox in Tibet, but he was killed a few years later by an assassin from his opponents. In addition to annotating his teacher's "Outline of the Truth" and "Commentary on the Madhya Pradesh Madhya Pradesh", he also wrote "Chunganko Myoron" and other works. He also wrote many books on Tantra esoteric Buddhism. The three volumes of "Shujushidai" are noteworthy as they convey the course of the above-mentioned debate.
