Miyanojo [town] - Miyanojo

Japanese: 宮之城[町] - みやのじょう

This old town occupies the southern slope of the Izumi Mountains and the basin of the midstream of the Sendai River in Satsuma County, Kagoshima Prefecture. It has been a center of rice cultivation since the feudal era, and tea, tomatoes, strawberries, and livestock are also cultivated. There is also a tea factory. Miyanoshiro Onsen is home to the town. In March 2005, it merged with Tsuruta Town and Satsuma Town in Satsuma County to become a town. It has ^{an area of 145.95 km2} and a population of 17,488 (2003).
