...In the Izumo area, this was modified and widely sung under names such as "Nazamemama-bushi," "Wadamin-bushi," and "Hamasada-bushi." The current Yasugi-bushi is due to the efforts of Watanabe Sakuhei, a restaurant owner in Yasugi, and his fourth daughter Oito (1875-1956). Sakuhei modified the song, and Oito, who had a beautiful voice, sang it. In 1916, she herself played the shamisen and went to Tokyo with the master Tomita Tokunosuke to perform in Asakusa Roku-ku. This became the basis for making Yasugi-bushi famous. ...
