…In 1904, he published “Shinkyoku Urashima” (New Song of Urashima), advocating a new dance drama style, but two years later, he supported Shimamura Hogetsu and founded the Literary Association, introducing Shakespeare, Ibsen, and other artists, laying the foundations for the new drama movement. The circumstances that led to the dissolution of the Literary Association due to a love affair between Hogetsu and Matsui Sumako are reflected in his play “Yaku no Gyoja” (1915).
