[Born] 1890
Died in 1946 in Tehran. An Iranian thinker who was active from the time of Reza Shah through the Second World War. Criticized Iran's superficial Europeanization, religion, and social conservatism from the standpoint of humanism and democracy. He sought the direction of Iranian nationalism, but fell into moralism and was labeled an "enemy of Islam." In March 1945, he was targeted by the Fidayani Islam, but escaped. In 1946, he was attacked again inside the Ministry of Justice in Tehran and died. His books include "The Constitutional Revolution of Iran" and "18 Years of Azerbaijan".
