...The Yamana clan has been deeply devoted to Zen Buddhism for generations, and Tokiyoshi and Jōki supported the Tajima Daimyō-ji Temple, which was founded by Gettan Sōmitsu (1326-89) of the Rinzai sect of Buddhism. Jōki also had Daikage Sōshō, a disciple of Gettan, live in the Nanzen-ji Temple Seishin-in, which he built as a family home for the Yamana clan in Kyoto, and deepened literary and artistic exchanges with leading Zen monks of the time, such as Ikō Tokugen and Nakahō En'i. In addition, they supported many Zen temples, such as Entsu-ji, Daidō-ji, and Ryōgon-ji in Tajima, and Nanzen-ji Shinjō-in and Yamato Daruma-ji in Kyoto. Of these, Entsu-ji was the family home of Tokiyoshi, and has a portrait of Gettan Sōmitsu himself, dated 1383. *Some of the terminology that mentions "Entsu-ji Temple (Hyogo)" is listed below.
