APT - APT

Japanese: APT -
APT - APT

Abbreviation for Advanced Passenger Train. A streamlined high-speed train developed by British Railways (1994-1997, divided and privatized) following the HST. It entered service in December 1981. Initially, prototype tests were conducted using gas turbine-powered cars, but it was eventually completed as a single-phase 25 kilovolt AC electric train. It is a centralized power system, and while the French National Railways' TGV (Tejer-V) has both ends as motorized cars, this train has one or two central cars as motorized cars. There are six trailer cars on each side of the motorized car, making it an articulated car. It also has a forced body tilt mechanism. It has a maximum speed of 260 kilometers per hour and an output of 6,000 kilowatts. It was in service for a short time and was withdrawn in 1986, and some of it is now preserved at the National Railway Museum in York.
