This was a food poisoning incident that caused a large number of victims, mainly in Western Japan, to come to light in 1968. It was caused by the contamination of the rice oil (rice bran oil) manufactured and sold by Kanemi Warehouse Co., Ltd. in Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture, with polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) and dioxins produced by heating the oil during the manufacturing process. Symptoms range from skin and internal organ disorders to general fatigue. Approximately 14,000 people reported their cases between October of that year and July of the following year, and over 90% of them were confirmed to have consumed Kanemi oil. However, as of the end of 2020, the number of certified patients was only 2,350, including those who have already passed away. Some children and grandchildren of certified patients have also complained of health damage, and in 2021, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare announced its intention to conduct a health survey of the children's generation as well.

福岡県北九州市にあるカネミ倉庫株式会社が製造販売した「ライスオイル(米ぬか油)」によって、西日本を中心に被害者が続出した食中毒事件のこと。1968年に発覚した。製造工程でポリ塩化ビフェニール(PCB)や、これが加熱されてできるダイオキシン類が混入したことが原因とされ、皮膚や内臓の疾患、全身の倦怠感など症状は多岐にわたる。同年10月から翌年7月までに被害を届け出た人は約1万4千人で、うち9割超がカネミ油を口にしたことが確認されたが、2020年末時点での認定患者数は既に死去した人も含めて2350人にとどまる。認定患者の子や孫にも健康被害を訴える人がおり、厚生労働省は21年、子の世代に対しても健康実態調査を行う方針を示した。
