This is the diary of Yoshida Kanemi (originally named Kanekazu), the deputy chief priest of Shinto during the Azuchi-Momoyama period. Currently, the diary contains the entries from 1570 to 1592, but some parts are missing. There are also some other notes. As Kanemi was the head of the Yoshida Shinto family, the majority of the entries are related to Shinto rituals, but it also contains information on the movements of the central government, including the activities of Oda Nobunaga and Toyotomi Hideyoshi, travelogues from his travels around the country, his observations and experiences, and even literary matters such as renga (linked verse) and Noh theater, making it an important historical document of this period.
