[Configuration and Efficiency]
The main parts of a boiler are a steel vessel (the main body of the boiler) that holds water and steam, and a fuel combustion device and combustion chamber. In addition to these, there are also superheaters to superheat the steam above its saturation temperature, reheaters necessary for steam power plants that use a reheat cycle, economizers and air preheaters that use the residual heat of the combustion gas to preheat the feedwater and air sent to the combustion device, as well as ventilation equipment, water supply equipment, and exhaust gas treatment equipment for environmental protection. The performance of a boiler is represented by the ratio of the amount of heat effectively transferred to the water side and used to create steam to the total amount of heat generated when the supplied fuel is completely burned, and this value is called the boiler efficiency.
