In 1873, he launched the weekly economic and financial magazine “L'Économiste français”, modelled on the British magazine “The Economist”, and thereafter published rigorous, systematic and sharp analyses of contemporary economic and political issues. “L'Économiste français” is today regarded as a first-class resource for the study of the economic and financial history of the Third Republic. …
