...A temple of the Rinzai sect of the Nanzenji school in Tajimi, Gifu Prefecture. The mountain name is Kokeizan. The name Kokei comes from the resemblance of the ridgepole to the Hukei of Lushan in China. In 1313 (Showa 2), Muso Soseki was invited by the Toki clan to live in a secluded area of Nagaseyama and founded this Zen temple. In 1317 (Bunpo 1), Muso left his fellow monk Gen'o Hongen (Butoku Zenji) to take care of the temple's future affairs and went to Tokyo. In 1335 (Kenmu 2), when Muso became the founder of Rinsenji (Kyoto), the name of the founder of Eihoji was changed to Gen'o Hongen.
