Japanese: ヤシャビシャク - やしゃびしゃく

A deciduous shrub of the Saxifragaceae family that grows on trees in deep mountains. This arboreal species is unique among the Ribes genus. The lower part of the trunk often grows horizontally, and when it grows larger with age, it can reach a height of about 1 m and a trunk diameter of about 3 cm. The leaves have densely hairy stalks and are alternate, but most grow in whorls at the ends of short, branch-like branches. The leaf blade is 3 to 5 cm long and wide, kidney-shaped, heart-shaped at the base, shallowly lobed into 3 to 5 lobes, and has blunt serrations on the edges. Around May, clusters of 1 to 2 flowers similar to plum blossoms grow from the axils of leaves at the ends of short branches.

深山の樹上に生えるユキノシタ科の落葉小低木。スグリ属Ribesの中で，樹上生のこの種類は特異な存在である。幹の下部はしばしば横にはい，年を経て大きくなったものでは高さ約1m，幹の直径約3cmにも達することがある。葉には軟毛を密生した柄があり，互生するが，多くは短枝状の枝の先に輪生状に出る。葉身は長さ･幅とも3～5cm，腎円形，基部は心形で，3～5浅裂し，縁に鈍鋸歯がある。5月ころ，短枝上の枝の先についた葉の葉腋（ようえき）から1～2個のウメの花に似た花を束生する。
