…Later, in the late Middle Ages, Landfriede, which was applicable to individual territories (lands), became the norm. The culmination of this long-term legal development was the Eternal Landfriede (Ewige Landfriede), enacted by the Imperial Diet of Worms in 1495, which, in principle, unconditionally and permanently banned the Fede. This law of public order played an extremely important role in the history of the development of criminal law and the formation of state power.
