…As the Taiping Rebellion expanded, the Qing dynasty's shift from its traditional pacifist policy to a more oppressive one also influenced the rebellion. First, the Yunnan Muslims (called Panzees by the Burmese) rebelled throughout Yunnan after a clash with Hui-Han miners at the Shiyang Silver Factory in Chuxiong Prefecture in 1854 (the 4th year of the Xianfeng era).
