...Population: 627,000 (1997). Its origins lie in the Orgööö (meaning "palace"), built in 1639 for Zanabazar (later to become the first Jevtsundamba Khutkut). Reflecting the nomadic lifestyle of Mongolia, Orgöö moved more than 20 times, and by the end of the 18th century had almost completely settled on the north bank of the Tora River, which flows along the northern foot of the Bogd Mountains, and has since developed significantly.
