〘Noun〙 (also "ungaku") 1. A person in the clouds. A hermit. [Shui-jing-chu - Ju -sui] 2. A person who was permitted to ascend to Seiryoden from the mid-Heian period onwards. Refers to those of the fourth or fifth rank who were permitted to ascend to the palace, and sixth -rank chamberlains. A person of the court. A person above the clouds. ⇔ A person below the clouds. ※Sakyo-ki - May 16, 1035 (8th year of Chogen), "North left, south right, last April's _two cloud guests _{were one} _{left and} _{one right} ."
