…These British Palladian architects, father and son, worked together on the urban planning of Bath, a city of Roman origins located about 160 km west of London. In 1727, John Wood the Elder (1704-54) was invited by Bath's father to be one of the influential people who sought to develop the city, which was once again in the limelight as a spa resort. He designed Queen Square (1735), Prior Park (1748), and the Circus (a series of circular houses; construction began in 1754 and was completed by his son in 1764).
