Wood, J. (Jr.)

…These British Palladian architects, father and son, worked together on the urban planning of Bath, a city of Roman origins located about 160 km west of London. In 1727, John Wood the Elder (1704-54) was invited by Bath's father to be one of the influential people who sought to develop the city, which was once again in the limelight as a spa resort. He designed Queen Square (1735), Prior Park (1748), and the Circus (a series of circular houses; construction began in 1754 and was completed by his son in 1764).

From [Housing]

...This is a series of three- or four-storey dwellings lined up side by side, each with its own entrance facing the street. Many apartments and terraced houses have a cohesive design as a whole, such as Royal Crescent (1754-75) built by Wood the Younger in Bath and Cumberland Terrace (1826-27) built by J. Nash in Regent's Park in north London, which are apartment buildings designed to resemble palaces. At the same time, these houses are known as examples of apartment buildings whose layout was planned from an urban planning perspective.
