(1) A prayer of the Catholic Church. It is called the "Hail Mary." "Ave" was originally an interjection of greeting, such as "Hello!" or "Congratulations." The prototype of this prayer has been used in liturgies in the Eastern Church since the 6th century and in the Western Church since the beginning of the 7th century. The current verses of the Catholic Church consist of a hilarity taken from the Gospel of Luke 1:28 and 42 and a petition to the Virgin Mary added in the 15th century. It is not used in Protestant churches, which have a different theological evaluation of the Virgin Mary.
