Cadmeia - Cadmeia

Japanese:
Cadmeia - Cadmeia

…When his sister Europa was abducted by Zeus, he was sent to Greece to search for her, with strict orders from his father not to return home until he found her. However, the search was in vain, so he gave up on returning home. Instead, he followed a cow he had seen near the temple of Apollo, as instructed by the oracle at Delphi, to Boeotia (meaning "land of the cows"), where he built the Cadmeia (the fortress of the city of Thebes) at the spot where the cow lay down. During this time, he slew a dragon guarding the spring of Ares, the god of war, in order to draw water for a sacrifice, but when he was advised by the goddess Athena to sow its teeth in the ground, a large army immediately appeared. …

From Thebes

…According to legend, Cadmus, son of a Phoenician king and said to have brought writing to Greece, came to Greece in search of his sister Europa, who had been abducted by Zeus, and built the acropolis in accordance with the oracle of Delphi. For this reason, the acropolis of Thebes was called Kadmeia. During the Mycenaean period, the Cadmeia housed a large palace, which was destroyed by fire in the 14th century BCE and was soon rebuilt as a smaller new palace, but this too was destroyed within less than 100 years. …

From the Theban Legend

…These include Semele, who gave birth to Dionysus even after dying from Zeus' thunderbolt; Agauē, who tore her son Pentheus to pieces (see Euripides' tragedy, The Bacchae); and Inō, who threw herself into the sea to die. The Acropolis of Thebes was called Kadmeia after Cadmus, and Babylonian cylinder seals have been unearthed there in recent years, proving that there was contact with the East. …
