Japanese: 碓氷バイパス - うすいバイパス

This road, which crosses Iriyama Pass, was completed in 1971 as a bypass of National Route 18 from Annaka City, Gunma Prefecture to Karuizawa Town, Nagano Prefecture. It is 13.2 km long. It was built as a toll road to deal with the expansion of roads and the increase in automobile traffic near Usui Pass, which was once known as a difficult spot on the Nakasendo road, and was opened to the public free of charge in 2001.
