A checkpoint on the ancient Tosando road. It was located in Usui County, Kozuke Province (Gunma Prefecture). It was established in September 899 along with Ashigara Barrier to maintain peace in the eastern provinces. The site of the checkpoint is currently unknown. The checkpoint in the early modern period was also called Yokokawa Barrier, and continued to exist from its establishment in 1623 until 1869. 古代東山道の関所。上野国 (群馬県) 碓氷郡にあった。昌泰2 (899) 年9月,東国の治安維持のため足柄関とともにおかれた。現在,関址は不明。また近世の関所は横川 (よこかわ) 関ともいわれ,元和9 (1623) 年の設置以後,明治2 (1869) 年まで存続した。
